What Do Implants Do Differently?
In the area around your cheeks, the muscles are supported by your teeth. When you lose a tooth, particularly a molar, the muscles in your cheek are no longer supported and your cheeks will begin to sag. This sagging changes the shape of your face and can make you look older.
An implant changes that. Your dentist will drill a hole in your jawbone and insert a titanium cylinder. This cylinder acts the same way the root of the tooth acts. It holds the place of your tooth and keeps the other teeth aligned correctly. In addition, the titanium cylinder and the tooth that is fixed to it, help to support the muscles of your cheek. The sag goes away and your face fills out again.
If you have teeth missing that are not on the side of your mouth, an implant can also help you look younger. Nothing looks worse than a missing tooth and it also makes you look older. When you have an implant put in you will be amazed at the difference it makes. An implant looks so much like a real tooth they are virtually indistinguishable once the procedure is complete. There is no doubt that being able to present a smile with all of your teeth intact can wipe years off of your looks.
