Do You Know If You Have Bad Breath? Here is How You Tell

Posted on 1/10/2019 by Office Manager
Do You Know If You Have Bad Breath? Here is How You TellIf you eat something full of onions or garlic, you ay suspect that you will have bad breath. Those are only two of the things that can cause this issue.

There are other things that you may not realize that affect your breath. It is worth not only learning the other causes of bad breath, but how to tell when your breath offends the people around you.

Causes of Bad Breath

One way to tell if you might have bad breath is to think about what causes bad breath. If you just ate a meal heavy in garlic, onions or some other food that has a strong smell, it is very possible that those odors are on your breath. If you have done nothing to wash away these odors, they are often still present.

People who have dental health issues also often suffer from bad breath. If you suffer from tooth decay or gum disease, bad breath can result. Many of these issues lead to cases of chronic bad breath.

Recognizing Bad Breath

Fortunately, there are things you can do to fix bad breath. The first step is to recognize it. There are a few ways to do this.

•  Ask - You can check with someone you trust to ask if you have bad breath. Hopefully, they are honest with you and do not judge you.
•  Smell it - Some people try to smell their breath by holding their hand in front of their mouth and smelling it. Another way is to lick the back of your wrist and take a sniff. An unpleasant smell is a sign of bad breath.
•  Taste it - For people who struggle with smell, licking the wrist and tasting it is another test. An unpleasant or sour taste is a sign of bad breath.

One last option is to assume that you have bad breath after eating or in the middle of the day. Taking steps to deal with bad breath is easy and is something you can practice several times a day.
